Jo Avery is a Chartered Physiotherapist with over six years experience. She worked for three years within the NHS gaining valuable experience in a variety of musculoskeletal specialties, in particular orthopaedic trauma, outpatients and hand therapy. She started work with Dave MacLellan and Andy Larmour in 2007.
Jo is a member of the Association for Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (www.acpsm.org) which has led to her working at the British University Games working in a wide variety of sports and with international student athletes. She has recently been Certificated at the ACPSM level 2 (Silver) physiotherapist demonstrating her excellent level of competence and development. Jo is Physiotherapist to the Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club (www.exeterchiefs.co.uk) and is a specialist in acute injury management and sport rehabilitation skills. Jo has also worked with the WRFU (Women’s Rugby Football Union) working with the England U20’s, talent development squads and Super 4 competitions.
Jo is a qualified Clinical Pilates instructor delivering her skills to individuals and classes. She has worked closely with Andy and Dave to develop the screening process available at Ocean. Jo is completed an MSc in Sport and Exercise (Sport Injury) based at Manchester Metropolitan University in July 2010, which ensured she is up to date with recent developments within the world of physiotherapy and sport.
