Mr Shahid Khan BMBCh MA FRCS FRCS (Tr & Orth)
Shahid Khan is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon working at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and The Nuffield hospitals in both Exeter and Plymouth. He now specialises exclusively in Spinal surgery.
He trained at Cambridge and Oxford University Medical schools and completed his Orthopaedic training in Bristol, becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 1998 . Extensive fellowship training both in the UK and USA has led to a practice that encompasses the surgical management of all neck and lower back pathology, including degenerative conditions such as low back pain and sciatica, as well as complex spinal reconstruction for tumour, trauma and spinal deformity (scoliosis).
His particular interest is minimally invasive surgery and he is one of only four UK surgeons recognised as a member of the Society of Lateral Access Surgery or SOLAS (www.lateralaccess.org), in some situations able to treat lower back pain through a minimally invasive lateral approach (www.xlif.com).
