Specialist Musculoskeletal Podiatrist, Ocean Physio and Rehab
Helen Hodgins qualified with distinctions in 1987 from the Plymouth school of Podiatry which is now part of Plymouth University. She immediately sought experience working within the NHS in North Lincolnshire. Marriage brought her back to Devon where she gained a post within the NHS obtaining experience across a wide field including Diabetes, Nail Surgery, Biomechanics and Gait Analysis. Helen set up and managed the Biomechanical Service within Exeter Health Authority.
Private practice was a natural progression and this evolved whilst working in parallel with the NHS.
However, Helen is keen that a multidisciplinary approach is paramount in the field of Biomechanics and sought to work closely alongside an excellent physiotherapy team to provide optimum treatment outcomes for the patients.
A Masters degree in clinical Podiatric Biomechanics was gained in 2008 from Staffordshire University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports injuries in 1998 from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Helen has had articles submitted for publication in major peer-reviewed journals and will continue to have many more published in the future.
She strives to provide treatment that is evidence based, assessing and managing problems whilst striving to keep abreast of current evidence with continual professional development.
Her areas of speciality are Biomechanics, Advanced Gait Analysis, Pressure Analysis, Sports Injuries and Prescription of Orthoses. She also performs Nail Surgery under local anaesthesia.
